Former ECGFA Net

The European Commission financed between 2015 and 2019 the European Coast Guard Functions Academy Network (ECGFA net) project with the main aim to promote the exchange of knowledge, skills and best practices among the EU national authorities carrying out coast guard functions and, consequently, to facilitate the interoperability and cooperation amongst them.

The ECGFA Net project was implemented over three phases under the lead of the Finnish Border Guard and in collaboration with the Italian Coast Guard and the Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Society (SASEMAR).

The project activities covered:

  • the development of the Sectoral Qualifications Framework for Coast Guard Functions (SQFCGF),
  • a Training Portal, and
  • a Training Exchange Programme for coast guard experts of the EU Member States.
