Legal mandate

EFCA, EMSA, and Frontex have formed an inter-agency cooperation to support national authorities in carrying out coast guard functions at national, Union, and international levels, in line with their respective mandates and financial rules. The legal basis for this cooperation is outlined next:

• Common article of the amended founding regulations of the three EU Agencies.
• Commission Recommendation (EU) 2021/1222 of 20 July 2021.
• Tripartite Working Agreement (TWA) establishing the inter-agency cooperation framework.
