Since January 2026, EMSA is offering underwater services to deliver subsea operations through multipurpose Intervention-Class Remotely Operated Vehicles (IC-ROVs), Observation-Class ROVs (OC-ROVs), sonar systems,  other tools capable of handling a wide variety of underwater missions and familiarisation sessions for national authorities.
The key features are summarised below:
Services are provided on demand, free of charge, to EU-EEA national authorities, which retain operational control of the intervention.
Services can be provided independently or integrated with equipment and capabilities already available to the requesting authority. This interoperability enhances the potential for multi-modal operations, where resources from EMSA and the requesting entity can be jointly deployed to achieve mission objectives efficiently.
The theoretical operational depth for IC-ROV is 3,000m, while for OC-ROV is 150m. 
Requests for the service should be channeled via the national points of contact (i.e. safety Investigation Authorities).
