The Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) provides regular and systematic reference information on the physical and biogeochemical state, variability and dynamics of the ocean and marine ecosystems for the global ocean and the European regional seas.

Scope and source of data

CMEMS data contain daily and weekly remote sensing observations and hourly forecast ocean and marine ecosystem products for European regional seas and the global ocean in support of all maritime activities (safety, security, environment, fisheries, etc.).

Technical implementation

The CMEMS information is provided through a WMS interface and is displayed as “Remote Sensing” and “Forecast model” raster data layers under the “Met-Ocean” layer of the SEG.

Conditions of access

The products delivered by CMEMS are provided free of charge and are available to all users. Hence, CMEMS data is available to EU Member States’ authorities executing functions in the maritime domain, ports, EMSA, EC and other EU bodies users.
