The Coast Guard Project Capacity Building and Training Exchange Programme at European level was launched with the call for hosts on 2 June 2023.
The first period of the capacity building and training programme takes place from February 2024 to January 2025. In total, 21 different coast guard authorities and entities from 10 countries (nine Member States and Iceland) made 31 exchange offers (on 28 different topics) for 128 participant places. The exchanges cover all coast guard functions, sea and air activities. Hosts make offers on a voluntary basis, as the exchange programme covers only participant related costs.
The initiative of the Coast Guard Project Capacity Building and Training Exchange Programme is led by the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA), in close cooperation with the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex). This initiative is funded by the European Commission.
The first period exchange programme hosts were recognized and awarded a special certificate and a plaque for their commitment and effort during the Coast Guard Project 2nd Capacity Building and Training Network Consultation Framework hybrid meeting with Member States, organised by EFCA, and held on 28 November 2024, in Bruges, Belgium.
We extend a warm thank you to all the coast guard authorities hosting exchanges and we hope that you will participate in the second round taking place in 2025 – 2026.
The call for hosts was launched on 9 October 2024 and it is open until 15 January 2025. For more information please visit Exchange Programme | European Cooperation on Coast Guard Functions.
